Hello SAFL Community !
I hope this message finds everyone in good health and spirits. Covid19 has turned the world on his head, but sport on a global basis is bringing some normality back to us. The government regulations currently in place have challenged us to adapt out programs. In the coming weeks and months we hope that regulations will ease further and allow us to get back to larger group sizes and competitive games.
Our 2022 Season 1 Island Flag Conference which begins on 30th January. We will organise into 2 age groups and practice/play on Sundays.
U12 Flag (grades 3-5th, ages 9-11) – 1:30-3:00
U14 Flag (grades 6th-8th, ages 11-13) – 3:15 – 4:45
Start: Sunday 30th Jan
End: Sunday 10th Apr
Location: Centaurs Sports Park
Based on the government regulations we need to maintain a group size of 5 including a coach. We will focus on skills development and learning the playbook. If the regulations on group size continues to ease, we can get to competitive play.
Our U18 World Conference is our tackle/contact program for Season 1 and will have 2 training sessions on Friday & Sundays.
U18 World Conference (grades 9th-12th, ages 14-18) – 5:00 – 7:00PM
Start: Friday 28th Jan
End: Sunday 10th Apr
Location: Centaurs Sports Park
Our U18 World Conference group will focus on football skills development in a tiered development program based on age, years experience, and athletic ability. The tiers will range from non-contact groups and focusing on the football basics through to more advanced groups with advanced drills and modified contact for more experienced players. U18 players will be put into their appropriate groups after 2 evaluation sessions. Hopefully the SMM regulations will start to ease for larger group sizes and game formats in a contact environment.
We are always in need of volunteers, so please reach out if you have time to invest in the your children and the American Football community.
Best Regards
